Parasites, Promises & Fully Fabricated Bullshit
Q1 | 2020
Hey there...
This is a long-overdue update for 2020. Thanks for not spamming me with messages asking why the hell you gave me your email if it was just gonna sit locked away in a basement like in Parasite (shit, spoiler alert).
Anyway, I promise to be a bit more diligent (or maybe not) with quarterly updates, which is the cadence I had hoped for prior to this crazy (in a good way) new gig -- here's a bit more on the whole life transition deal.
I want to give a quick shout-out to a friend (occasional acquaintance?), Mike Kilcoyne, who has been an inspiration with regards to radical honesty and judgment-free CREATION at all costs. We all get stuck in weird life ruts and laying ourselves out in the open for others to see us is often the best way to move forward. Mike does it with humor and grace, and I love him for it.
Derek Sivers (also below) is another recent inspiration who lives out a truth that I think we can all learn from. His take on leaving a legacy is unexpected, existential, and perfectly poetic.
I'm enjoying being crazy busy and simultaneously not enjoying it at all, so that's something I'm trying to figure out at the moment. Regardless of where I land, I appreciate having people in my orbit (physical and virtual) who are willing to listen. That's the beautiful thing about life—we're all making assumptions about nearly all of the details. That being the case, we might as well make our fabricated bullshit interesting.
Ok, on to the good stuff!
TaykenTots I'm currently snacking on:
Derek Sivers (can't wait for his new book)
Neal Agarwal (let's bring the weird web back)
ZebrasUnite (DazzleCamp anyone?)
Hypergiant (seriously...just go look)
Music: Nathaniel Rateliff - And It's Still Alright / Time Stands
Book: Stealing Fire (we're doing a meetup thing)
Loving CashApp (woohoo, $1 off coffee + BTC)
With ❤️ & skepticism,
~Tayken
